Biggest Heart in the NFL

Thanks Lloyd9391

We lost, but promises

We lost to Dallas. Ya, we were screwed by the refs, but that's not why we lost. There is so much promise though. The young guys are playing hard. If they keep the same squad including Matt Moore, this team may start jelling by midseason next year and may be make a Superbowl Run in 2009-2010. No knee-jerk decisions please. Stick with the young guys, let them learn from their own mistakes and we'll eventually have a contender. Peppers was not in there and Rucker is not his old self, but this is the best I have seen the DL play since the Superbowl year. There is no moral victory in a loss, but I like the effort.

And Smitty! He really impressed me this year. We have nothing to play for, and he almost singlehandedly won the game while playing hurt. He is not the biggest guy to ya know. He is all heart!!! He is the toughest player in the NFL, and the best reciever right now bar none. Ya, I'll take him over TO. And I'm not saying that cuz I am a Panther fan.

We Won! Again! Yes!

The team showed up and played today. Rookie Matt Moore started and delivered. Defense was great as well. How 'bout a little winning streak to end this season and to carry into next season. Great win eitherway :-)

Well

This is one of my favorite NFL theme songs. It is by Sam Spence, and it was remixed in Madden couple of years back. This is the remix version.

My Panthers are painfully bad this year. We had a win against Frisco, but other than that, we are looking very bad. The 2001 team that finished 1-15 played harder than what we are showing this year. Very painful man.

PS - This is the first audio of my blogging career.

We'll play the Saints

We lost to Greenbay last week. Not watching tomorrow either. I am going to sleep :-) Best of luck to the team.

We'll play Green Bay

I am severely broke, so I will not watch this game. I think we have no chance in hell as well. Good luck to them :-)

Yeb

Just like last week. Our defense played their hearts out, but offense couldn't do $hit. Only difference this was that this was a winnable game, the hertbreaking manner in which we lost and also the fact that it was the Falcons. Big win for Atlanta.

Well. Undrafted Rookie Matt Moore may start. We need a major spark on offense or this season may go in the toilet and probably end up being John Fox's worst season coaching the Panthers.

Besides the fact that our defense has been playing their a$$es off and improving in the past month. We have nothing to cheer about. We suck.

Titans are a top notch team not far below the Colts. But if our defense plays the way they did in the first half last week against Indy and we let David Carr take some risks on offense, we will have a great shot at winning. We can’t keep calling safe plays for Carr if we want him to get over his “shell-shock” from his Houston days. One other thing; between chewing out David Carr and the Dwayne Jarret incident, Smitty is starting to annoy me. Shut the f*** up, get with the program and lead by example. Of course, I got so much love for Smitty. He is my favorite panther of all time. It’s frustrating for everyone. Stop your shenanigans.

We hang tough

We played well in the first half, but you can't keep Payton Manning on the Sidelines with an offense that gets off the field faster than an illegible player before a snap.

In the second half, The colts unleashed the offense that made them one of the league's top teams in recent years. Our defense is getting better. On offense, I say start Carr or even the Rookie Moore and get the mistakes out of the way by rebuilding now. Get all the young guys some playing time. We have a good chance at making the play-offs, but we're light-years away from being a superbowl team(understatement of the year)

Colts @ Panthers: I actually think we have a chance

Sunday, October 28, 1:00 PM EST
Bank of America Stadium: Charlotte, NC

Well! After a bye week, we are here again. Our hands are full as we are playing the world champs. We've beaten San Francisco in 95, Dallas in 96, Rams in 2000, Bucaneers in 2003 & Patriots in 2005. However we were raped by the steelers in 2006 and Packers in 97 as well. What does that tell you?

Stats are meaningless. Just go out there and win the game.

Also, the old man is starting. My uncle Vinny. Fugget-a-bout-it! No pressure. Go Panthers! Just win the game. If we win I'll upload "still ballin'" by 2pac.

Tuesday, October 16, 2007

The old man

I did not have enough time to write about our game and win against the Cardinals. I did not even watch the game. Part of the reason is due to the time I was spending with my dad and no internet access for the most part. While I was hanging out with my old man, panthers signed an old man.

So, on to quick updates. Jake is out for the season. David carr is dinged up. So, we sign Vinny Testaverde who was out of football a week ago. After 4 days of practice, and barrage of old jokes by the media, Vinny learns that he will start for us against the cards as well. He then makes history by becoming the oldest QB in NFL history to start and win a game. Way to go old man(top left pic) :-)

We had to squeak out another road win again, but since our season opening win has diminished cuz it turns out that the Rams suck balls, this has to be our most convincing win thus far.

Only consistent theme of this season thus far is our road-warrior mentality. We are 4-0 on the road and have been completely dominated and have lost both games at The Vault.

I'll take 4-2 going into the bye week as opposed to 1-5, which we very likely would have been. After the bye we get the champs(Colts) at The Vault. That will be a big test.

PS - The Beast is awake and Smitty(right pic) delivered as usual.

There was progress

And guess what? We won!!! Granted it was against a team that completely self destructed and handed us the game in the 4th quarter(what's that word again...ya choke), there was still tremendous progress in all 3 phases. The defense played their a$$ess off and special teams looked good. What can I say about the only original panther on this roster John Kasay? There were missed tackles here and there and I think they have to be corrected. We got two interceptions after having none all year. And the beast finally awoke as he saved our asses by blocking a a field gial that would have been a nail in out coffin. Peppers saved the game and Kasay(being mobbed by teammates in the pic) won it.

David Carr looked more comfortable than last week. He also has helped shed his pretty boy image by getting back in the game after a possible career ending hit, and then and leading us to an improbable win. This was an ugly win, but it was not as undeserved as the Atlanta game a couple fo weeks back. There was progress. There was effort. Great work. Here is what David Carr said after the game, and I hope that will hold true.

"I've never been in a football game like that before. It was phenomenal. ... I was going up to all the defensive guys afterward thanking them for stopping them (after his interception). It was like my life was out there on the line. ... They were saying that was the kind of feeling they had in '03, when they were going on that (Super Bowl) run. Once that starts happening, man, a football team can be pretty dangerous."

Carolina @ New Orleans: Just show me progress

I've lowered the bar considerably for this team as there is something obviously wrong, and as a result of which we are not a very good team right now. I won't get into any specifics as all I want to see is progress. Don't get me wrong, I'll take an ugly win like the Atlanta game 2 weeks back as opposed to a loss that we dominated. However, one thing I certainly do not want to see is a dispirited team. Please show all the fans that you care.

Royal a$$ kicking

Kris Jenkins summed it up. We were beaten in every aspect of the game by a far superior team. Unless we get some major spark, this will be a long season. I don't mind losses, but for any loyal fan, when your team completely mails it in like that, you die a little inside. I can't really place any blame on Carr. I blame the coaching staff's retarded mindset. Obvious adjustments were not being made until it was too late and Tampa Bay switched to doing other things. Bucs were like 20 steps ahead of us. I am so embarassed by this loss. I can't get into any more details as I have mustered up so much energy to write this paragraph alone. Yes! I am a sore loser. This was a beat-down. This was an embarassment to anyone associated with this team.

Bucs domination

My theme song for this battle.

May the best team win! Thanks Ap0u for the video.

Tampa Bay @ Carolina: Another rivalry & an early division lead at stake

Sunday September 27, 2007 4.05pm EDT
Bank of America Stadium
Charlotte, NC

This week we have another heated, I mean very heated rivalry. We have owned the Tampa Bay Bucaneers in recent years mostly courtesy of DelHommie, but all the games have been close and physical. As I said in an earlier entry, Kris Jenkins blocking an extra point to prevent a Tampa win and send the game into overtime is the second greatest panther moment for me. We have owned them since.

One difference tomorrow is that Delhommie is out. This is where we can really see the difference between this year and last. David Carr has to step in and deliver in a very hostile and physical game. I think he is up to it and I think he will do well. If a QB controversy comes about in the coming weeks, I think it will only mean that we have two good QBs. Jake is the ultimate professional as well as Carr (I think). Now light them up and prove me right Dave. If there is a Tampa fan talking sh** to me tomorrow, I will not be backing down. And back in Charlotte, BofA(pic) will be rocking. Guaranteed!

Running game improves in ugly win

I consider the Atlanta Falcons to be our biggest rival with Tampa Bay Bucaneers right up there with them. I mean, I have more respect for Tampa because according to me, their fans are more knowledgeable and classy. Anyways, there is no love lost with the punk-a$$ falcons and their fans ever since I started following this team.

Besides us getting shredded in the Georgia dome in ‘97 for 50+ points , the two Michael Vick personal shut-out beat-downs to us in 2002, our play-off clinching season finale drubbing of them Georgia dome in 2005 and a few others, our games with the falcons have always been chippy, scrappy, heartbreaking and full of fights. It is always a war with this piece of sh** excuse for a team. I kid the falconsJ. Talking about heartbreaking, what panther fan can ever forget that Michael Vick dive in 2004 that tied a game we had in the bag and falcons eventually won in OT. I felt personally stabbed by Vick man. I actually missed a flight watching that sh** J. My point is most games with them are classic dogfights. I digress.

With the absence of Vick, I am just glad our rivalry with the falcons is as intense as ever.

So, on to yesterday’s game; After getting being manhandled in every aspect of the game for the second straight week, in the middle of the third quarter Falcons cornerback DeAngelo Hall blinked first in his fantasy duel with Smitty. The result was D-Hall single handedly handing us the momentum as he picked a nice moment to implode and gave us 67 yards on a drive that was going to get a field goal at best. Thanks baby come again :-) Thanks also to Spin Tk for th honorary Panther Jersey(top left) :-)

Only positive for us was the running game. We need a lotta work, I mean a lot of we are going to be a play-off team. And with Tampa looking good and coming to Charlotte next week, an early division lead is at stake.

Our secondary keeps getting beat down like they stole money from opponents. Someone stop the bleeding please. Our safeties need…I don’t know…they just look terrible. Matt Schaub and Joey Harrington have picked them apart. I can only imagine what Jeff Garcia, Payton Manning etc… will do to them unless they step up their game.

Jake got hurt, but I am not as down on David Carr as most of our fans. I think he will do very well.

Special teams keep giving up great field positions. Someone stop the bleeding there as well.

It is official. Julius peppers is in his annual disappearing act. I think this may be a cool thing, because it only means he is getting it out of his system early in the season. You know he will explode at some point. The beast will be unleashed in an opportune time, or it is wishful thinking of a fan that is too passionate about his team. Until then, I am content with scrappy ugly wins J

All in all, we sucked ball$ for the second straight week, but this time we won this week. Granted were lucky to win this game, I just have the feeling that we can’t possibly play any worse than the last two weeks. It will only get better. Our improved running game is a tiny evidence of what is to come hopefully. Great Job Deshaun and D-Will.

The Falcons supposedly suck worse than us, so I expect a win. There won't be a Michael Vick terrorizing us for the first time in recent years. I like our chances unless we mail it in like last week. I want to see some balls from players other then Steve Smith. And please start Dwayne Jarret!

Homeopener horror

All I have to say is that after being up by two touchdowns, we turned around and got raped. I am confused about this team even though it is very early in the season. We looked great against the Rams and then we get shredded by Houston. Granted Houston looked pretty good, there was still no reason to roll over like that. Our performance reminded me of the later part of the 2001/02 seaosn when we played with no energy/win or lose. Actually all we did that season was lose, but that's besides the point. Where was the passion. Is there anyone on this team that has a pulse other than Steve Smith?

Julius Peppers, you are about a year away from being called a hype.

Step the f*** up!

Trgovac, grow some balls and use your personnel. If you have a Ferrari, you don't park it or drive it around the neighborhood. Cmon man!

The Texans looked pretty good last week against Kansas City, so this game is not to be taken lightly. Mario Williams had a monster game, so he will be a handful and our offensive line should be ready for him. But guess what, their lame ass offensive line better get ready for Julius Peppers and co. I will be at hooters and best of luck to both teams :-)

Rams down: theme was adjustment & resilience

Smith Sparks Memories in Panthers Win
NFL.com

I cannot think of many Panther games where we adjusted very well to the game. The defense was giving up huge runs and it quickly shut down the run. There was no pressure on Bulgar early, but as the game wore on, he looked hurried. In all fairness, the loss of Orlando Pace may have something to do with that as well. The offense had a nice first drive, but was stagnant for the rest of the half.

I really liked the play-calling on offense for the simple fact that they did not cling on any type of scheme. They were mixing it up. They were doing it all. They were aggressive at times, conservative, tricky etc... Way to go Jeff Davidson. Of course, Smitty adds another home-run to his repertoire. Good Job Trgovac in the 2nd half as well. Only negative for me was that big return by Dante Hall to our 20, but our defense instantly snuffed out that momentum by holding them to a 3 and out. I've seen more dominating wins, but I can't recall being this satisfied with play calling and game management. We look good. Great job adjusting. Also, great job being resiliant as we rebounded from two fumbles in hostile territory.

Oh ya. I watched the game at Hooters in hostile territory surrounded by so many Rams fans. It was such a great experience. I can fairly say that I have found a spot to watch the games. It is amazing how the lovely women there turn into human beings when a bigger passion(football) is involved :-) Does that mean lust and sports use the same emotional energy? Who gives a sh**! We won. Great job with adjusting and resilience. Need to see more of that this season.

Season Opener - Panthers @ Rams

Sunday, September 9, 1:00 PM EST
Edward Jones Dome: St. Louis, MO

The season will kick off within a few hours. I will go out on a limb and say the Lambs will be silenced again. However, the first game of the season is always tricky. Don't know what to expect. Unless we get hit by significant injuries, we should be play-off bound.

As soon as I get off work, I will be scouting downtown long beach for any sports bars that will show the game. I have my Julius Peppers Jerseey on already :-)

Preseason 4 - Steelers

We got destroyed again. But Jake Delhomme, Steve Smith & Dan Morgan did not start. I really can't get any type of feel towards this year's team; mostly because I have watched none of the games. We open up against the Rams this coming Sunday. Since the LA area gets all the Rams games, I don't have to look for a sports bar just yet.

Final cut were not that surprising according to charlotte.com fans forum.

PS - Kenyatta Walker was among the first cut.

Preseason 3 - New England

Didn't watch the game, even though this one was on national TV. Believe me, if I was not on a plane, I would have watched it. I am now glad that I didn't though, because looks like we got manhandled again. I like to think most of this is due to the coaching staff being more concerned with trying new plays and schemes and not showing their full hand as opposed to winning the actual game.

However, there is a pattern in the last two losses. Our secondary is getting torched in the air. Talent wise, we may have upgraded Mike Minter's position, but looks like his leadeship is starting to be missed. That's just me though. I mean how else can you explain that. From the charlotte.com panthers forum, I am also getting that Trgovac is too conservative. Better not be the case during the season. I miss that 2002 defense flying around the ball. He has to injest more aggression into the defense.

Our offense was stopped for the second week in a row. I really think we will be ok ofensively if we can get continuity at the line. I guess we will see.

The special teams are also inconsistent according to fellow fans at charlotte.com.

I'm gonna hold my tantrum until mid-season or something and we are in the same shape. hopefully that won't be the case.

Preaseason 2 @ Philadelphia

Oh God. An a$$ kicking would be an understatement. I mean, I understand it is pre-season and I am not too concerned, but cmon! I get on the net to check the stats around half-time and we are down 24-0? The same Eagles team that lost bad last week? Cmon people.

I am goiing by the stat-sheet, and also like I said, it is only preseason. But still, what-ever happened to the revamped new offense? I don't care is McNabb(a great player) is back, a defense of this caliber should not be getting lit up like that. Does this mean we have issues with our secondary especially the new safeties? These are all speculations. Once again, it is only pre-season, but no one at the Charlotte.com board is happy about this either. We got our a$$es handed to us. Now let me go back to that board and eat my words to the Eagles fan I was talking $hit to yesterday.

PS - I know this is too early for this kind of talk, but Jake better get it together. I say that, because unlike last year, there is a real QB right behind you. You are replacable this year. Love you Jake, but stop fu**king around.

Thursday, August 16, 2007

Kenyatta Walker - Are you $hittin me?

There was no other player available? The Buccaneer that played a significant part in the bad blood between the Panthers and the Bucs is now Panther. This is actually a good pick-up, but I am just a lil worried about the rivalry here. I still want to see tempers flaring when we play the Bucs. Someone's gotta step up from Tampa.

Monday, August 13, 2007

Preseason 1 @ NYG

Did not get to watch the game, but based on the stats, it looked like our offense will be much better this year. Deshaun Foster had some nice runs with the first team. Also looks like we are moving away from the power running game and taking advantage of the speed in the backfield with DeAngelo Williams as well as Deshaun. Really wanted to see Taye Biddle’s 85 yd TD catch on TV, but could not find it. He keeps playing like that, he'll survice that cuts...I think

On Defense, rookie LB Jon Beason led the team in tackles, but what I got from the Panthers forum in Charlotte.com was that the defense was weak. I won’t get on Trgovac’s case just yet. No one shows their cards in the preseason. Let’s hope that he calls a more aggressive game with this defense once the season gets rolling. The 2002 defense was not this loaded with talent, but they were flying to the ball and hit harder. If he just brings back that intensity that left with Del Rio, I will not start a post in Charlotte.com asking for Trgo's head. I have a feeling someone will beat me to it.

Special teams gave up a huge return. That’s not good man!!! We need to clean that up.

Oh ya, we won the game :-) Not that it means anything, but Panthers have won 16 of the last 18 preseason games.

Here is what the world said about the game.

Official Panthers site

Mike Minter

Mike Minter retired last week. If I am not mistaken he is the first player to have a lengthy career that started and ended in Carolina. In all honesty I think that position can be upgraded and it already has with the signing of Chris Harris. But hopefully the team will find a way to replace his leadership on and off the field.

Reminisce some more

I've seen 'Silence of the Rams' on NFL Fims somewhere. After that game, we beat the Eagles in the NFC championship 14-3 and lost another thriller in the Super Bowl. But for me, Steve Smith's 69 yard TD in double OT is the single greatest panther moment. A close second is a blocked extra point kick by Kris Jenkins against Tampa Bay that saved a game and sent it to OT. Yes, we won that game too :-)

OK! Forwarding to present time, here is the latest article about tomorrow's first preseason game against the Giants. I hope to catch the game somewhere :-)

Silence of the Lambs: January 11, 2004

Scenario:

-We had the game, but we blow an 11 point lead in the last 2 minutes.

-Genius 'Challenge an interception" Rams coach Mike Martz also plays for the tie and kicks a field-goal so we go to OT

-In the 1st OT, we miss a game winning FG after we had to rekick twice due to a false start(and I forgot what caused the other re-kick). I know the St Louis crowd was rocking that place though

-Rams also miss a game winning field goal in 1st OT

-Towards the end of the 1st OT period, Rams march for the winning drive.

-That's when this video begins

-Rookie Ricky Manning intercepts Mark Bulger(more like a strip)

-Our offense completely stalls mostly due to the rough crowd. A false start and a sack put us at 3rd and 14 in our own territory in a hostile environment

-The rest is history. You could hear a needle drop as Smitty took it to the house...

PS - I bleed blue!!!!!

Beason Finally Signs

The Panthers have signed first-round draft choice Jon Beason from Miami (FL). Beason played in 38 games with 22 starts for the Hurricanes and collected 187 tackles, 3.5 sacks, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, one interception and three passes defensed. He is expected to be on the field when the team resumes practice on Monday at 9:10 a.m. at Wofford College in Spartanburg, SC.

Destination Phoenix

Ok, I am always excited at this time of year, because the NFL season is about to start. I also just realized that SuperBowl XLII will be in the Phoenix, AZ area. Even though I knew where Phoenix is, for some reason I always thought it was pretty far from Southern California. So, the NFL fanatic that I am, I mapquest the damn place.

It's not even a 6 hours drive!!! That's a drive from here to San Franciso.

If the Panthers make it to the Superbowl, you better believe my ass will be there. Oh, I'm going baby! I was at the Super Bowl in San Diego some years back, and it was such an experience. If the cats make it, I'll be in Phoenix.

Getting closer & Good Luck Vick

1st preseason game is a couple of weeks away on August 11 against the Giants. I've kind of been away from the NFL in the off season. Besides personnel moves, I am usually not one of those people that keeps up much with their teams in the the offseason. Draft was solid and team looks so good on paper this year, but then the same was the case last year.

I won't have DirectTV this year, so I'm going to begin my search for a bar in the Long Beach area that has the games. I think we will have a great season. Long time Panther nightmare Ron Mexico AKA Michael Vick is in toruble. He did not get a DUI, He was not caught with some weed or guns. PETA is trying to nail him for dogfighting and it looks like this is serious. As a bitter Falcon hater, it is my duty to talk trash to anyone associated with that team, let alone the top dog. However, I still wanna see Vick play. We have a young but heated rivalry with the Falcons, and he is a major part of it. I don't think the NFL has seen a player of this caliber ever, and it will be a huge loss if this affects his career. Hopefully Vick will beat this and I'll be back to making herpes jokes :-)

New season & David Carr

In light of the upcoming draft, this is the first blog pertaining to the 2007-2008 season. I have been too long away from the panthers and football(4 months??????? ouch!!!!) to get into any details as far as specific position needs, but there will be more concrete analyses/ranting/bitching in the coming months all the way through the beginning of next year, where we will be lifting the Vince Lombardi Trophy(pictured top left) in Super Bowl XLII.

We signed David Carr from Houston. I think it is a great signing, even though it remains to be seen whether we have overspent or not. But Carr is a solid QB and may be physically more gifted than Delhommie. Jake is undoubtedly the #1 man. He also has proven to play his best under pressure, so I think this is a win-win situation for the team. Here are a couple of articles about the signing of David Carr.

Season is now over. See you next year.
